My calorie allowance for the day is 1560 or something similar (cant remember the exact)…

how is this going to help me lose a pound a week? Its bascially the same things I’m usualy eating except I’m logging it..

Height, weight, age, activity level, m/f?

1560 to lose a lb a week means that the "statistics" for the combination of the characteristics I ask you to list above "predict" that you would currently spend about 2060 Calories a day, on average, if you were maintaining your weight.

On the face of it, 2060 Cal a day seems pretty reasonable as a spend.

Intake calories and their accounting is quite interesting.

I yesterday went out for Vietnamese beef stew with a very good friend. I actually brought a scale with me. And have been logging by weight for years.

I was surprised that a meal that I would have called less filling than expected was still 1300 Cal. This was still based on logging choices I made. Different options could have had me log the meal closer to 1550 and others still closer to 1050. Remember, I actually know I had 166g of cooked meat that I ate and 389g of sauce. Now imagine just logging an eye ball of three "cups"

Not sure how you really know how much you have been eating unless you have been logging diligently

However, if you do know, that a particular level of eating is maintenance or gain, most of the time the answer to switch that to losing is to "intake a few fewer calories" and "spend a few more calories moving around" 🤷‍♂️

Because it's about eating fewer calories. Were you logging before? If not, there's about a 100% chance you were eating more than you thought you were. And you would have little to no idea whether you're eating more or less now. That's why we track calories.

as mentioned if you weren't logging before, then then there is a possibility that you were eating more before you started logging. Also, the potential that even though you're logging now it's not accurate and you're not logging everything accurately every day of the week. Unless you're a very small person those calories you should be causing fat loss. Without any real information about you it's really hard to tell.
