Meal Planner- log all ingredients instead of a single food

The meal planner recipes are nice to follow and convenient, but not when you make game time decisions to change the recipe.

If you break down the meal into its components when logging then it would add so much more versatility and keep the log-from-meal-planned functionality.

Currently if I make an addition it is easy- wanting to make a breakfast scramble as stated in recipe but want to add an extra egg. I log the breakfast scramble and then also log an egg.

But what about a complicated recipe with many components that I want to make a substitute in? I can’t remove an ingredient from it, if I wanted to log this meal now I’d have to look up each ingredient manually and so I can make my ingredients swaps.

You can save a list of ingredients as a "Meal" by using the "Quick Tools" on the particular meal slot on your FOOD page (at least on the browser/web version.) It will ask you to give it a name and it will be saved in your My Meals, but it will also be saved so that you can search for it. I usually name things with as many of the food ingredients as I can - for easier searching. I also give my "Meals" names a personal identifier to help with the Search filter.

Then it will work as you suggest. When you add the named "Meal" at a future date, it will appear in your FOOD log as separate ingredients, each with its own line which you can then delete or change the portioning. You can always add stuff easily from the "Add Food" too. I use the Meals function a lot, I probably have a hundred or so "meals" saved.
