What is the "Complete This Entry" used for?

On my Iphone App under the Diary tab there is a button labelled "Complete This Entry." Do I have to use this or does the app do it automatically at midnight? If I click on this after I have finished eating for the day will it record any exercise from my Fitbit later? I guess I am really asking what is it for and is it necessary?

    If you have the option to update your wall so all your friends can see it, completing your diary posts an announcement you've probably seen on others.

    You can still add to it and complete again. It will do it at midnight without the announcement too.

    It does nothing about exercise which ends at midnight already.

    Not needed, many turn off the notice to the wall anyway.
