Hello everyone! I’m excited to start this journey and appreciate any help along the way! I’m using Whey Protein for post workout and SixStar for pre-workout. Haven’t utilized creatine yet but I’m thinking about it. I’m at about a 13min/mile pace for a 5 mile run. I need to get it down to 8.5min/mile for a 5 mile run. I have a baseline test coming up and I need to be ready. I’m a firefighter/MFR and a welder by trade. I own my own consulting/fabrication company here in Michigan. Love hiking and being outdoors and active. Always ready for an adventure! Glad to be here and live the app!

    Welcome!

I think you'd get better results if you saved the pre-workout money and spent it on creatine instead. Most pre-workout formulas are just some combination of caffeine, vitamin B and sugar to get you feeling hyped, but they don't actually improve gym performance any. Creatine, however, helps the cells process energy better, plus there's some evidence suggesting it helps long-term mental acuity. No need to front-load like the instructions say; just start from day one taking the "normal dose" and you'll notice a difference inside of two weeks.

Hello, and welcome, from a fellow Michigander! This is a great state for outdoor activities.

I'm a very different demographic from you - active li'l ol' lady retiree, basically - but thought I'd stop by and say "hi" out of that common geography.

Have you seen the recent study suggesting the standard 5g creatine dosage may not have the previously-believed positive effect on mass increase? There can still be other reasons to use, it though (which I do, but not explicitly for mass gain).

I hope MFP helps you achieve your goals!
