Getting older

I'm 77 and I've always been very active. Yard work, aerobics, bike, walking. Lately my lower back (piriformis muscle) is giving me a hard time. I can't do yard work like I used to. So I'm starting this program again. I do water aerobics 3 times a week, walk the pool 3 times after class and then sit in the hot tub for 15 minutes. On days I don't have water aerobics, I "plan" to walk. So, here I go!!!

    Hello, and welcome!

I joined here at 59 for weight loss, now age 69 and in year 9+ of maintaining a healthy weight.

Do you have access to physical therapy, professional therapeutic massage, or anything like that? I've gotten good results for various problems that have sprung up.

I'm fairly active these days, mostly on water and machine rowing, and paved-trail or stationary biking, with the outdoor activities predominating when it's not Winter here. Most of the time, I do one or the other of those things 6 days most weeks, but I've been taking more of a break this past week. Right now, I'm also taking a "Bulletproof Knees" class once weekly at my Y. I need to integrate more of that class stuff into my more-frequent routine. On-water/trail season isn't quite here yet, but soon. Most days, I also do a few minutes of stretching or "exercise snacks" like side leg raises, donkey kicks, etc.

MFP has been a big help to me: I hope you find good results with your goals here, too!
