What do you want from seeds and nuts? All of them contain a high number of calories, but that's because they're packed full of healthy fats. And fat has a lot more calories than carbs or protein.

Nuts and seeds generally speaking have natural defenses against being eaten which consequently reduce their absorption and some by half if they're not chewed enough and some seeds like flax pretty much travel unmolested, lol. They're also chalk full of anti nutrients like oxalates, phytates, lectins, tannins and enzyme inhibitors which reduce the absorption of quite a few vitamins and minerals. Which also do cause digestive issues for some people. If they're fresh and properly handled and stored they are pretty tasty. I'm ketogenic and I do consume some nuts like macadamia and walnuts once in a while when the urge compels me. Seeds I just don't bother with at all. And if someone is trying to count calories they are calorie dense.

My question to you….how do you feel about peanuts?
It kinda sounds like you had zero interest in them as a snack til someone suggested them.
Think of your calorie allotment as a budget. Do you want to spend calories on peanuts? Or would you rather save and invest them in a different snack? Fruit? Popcorn? Beef jerky? A smoothie?
There’s people here who rave about chia puddings for breakfast or snacks. I’m sure they’re relatively healthy and bully for them if they enjoy them, but I’d have to be pretty desperate before it would be even a second or third choice for me There’s so many other things I’d rather enjoy eating first
Eat what you enjoy. It helped me at first to make a list of healthy snacks I enjoyed and stick it to the fridge, plus to keep those snacks (or the fixings for them)‘close together to make it easier and faster to put them together than to reach for a bag of chips.
Lately I’ve been falling in to the chip trap because I crave salt after intense workouts, and my husband keeps forgetting to put the chips back anywhere except where I can see them So I’ve put a large bowl of apple and naval oranges smack in the center of the counter. I like both, and seeing them reminds they’re available1 -
I'm with Spring up there: Choose snacks you enjoy, and that help you stay happy within your personal calorie goal. Bonus if they also contribute to the overall balanced nutrition from your personal total way of eating.
Here's one of my personal principles about eating, exercise, and weight loss (among other things): Other people can give us ideas to try. That's it. We're the only one who's going to know how those ideas work for us personally, i.e., whether they're happy contributions to reaching our individual weight management, fitness, health or nutrition goals.
If you like peanuts, and they fit in your calories and help you be happy with your eating, then eat peanuts (as long as you're not allergic to them, of course). If they don't accomplish anything for you, don't eat them.
There really aren't many - maybe not any - universal absolute "musts" for weight loss or nutrition.
Personally, I eat some peanut butter, peanut butter powder (a.k.a. defatted peanut flour), ground flax seed, hemp hearts, walnuts, pistachios (in the shell because I eat those slower!😉), the occasional Brazil nut (don't want to overdo selenium much as I like them), and occasionally others. I like them. They help me get good nutrition. That doesn't mean anyone else needs to eat them, though.
I predict that if you log your food and think about what works for you, you can figure out whether peanuts are part of your personal best habits, or not.
Best wishes!
