Sorta newbie here

I have had the app for a long time. I enter some of my food daily, my water, etc. When I weigh myself I enter it. Haven’t dove in though.

I would love to lose some weight, have needed to for a while, my daughter is getting married in August. Don’t want it to just be for the wedding, I have a few health conditions that would be better if I lost some weight as well.
Having rough time at the gym, I’m nursing a long time hip injury. (Finally made Dr appt)

Thanks for reading and hello to all.

    Hello, and welcome!

Fortunately, exercise is optional for weight loss. As you probably know, just getting to the right calorie level on the eating side, and averaging around there over a period of time, will result in gradual fat loss. It can take a little patience and persistence.

For me, logging consistently, completely and honestly every day was a big help: I could see where excess calories had crept in, and even identify some cuts I could make nearly painlessly. Some things just weren't important enough to me to be worth their calorie "cost", once I knew their calorie level. That's not the only possible successful method, but it sure helped me.

I lost about 50 pounds at age 59-60, severely hypothyroid (medicated), starting out with things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, some osteoarthritis, etc. I've been at a healthy weight for 9+ years since, now age 69. My lab results are now solidly normal every time, my joints hurt much less severely/often, and more: The quality of life results were more than worth the effort it took, for me. I hope you'll find the same.

You're smart to think of weight loss in terms of long-term benefits, and therefore in terms of changing long-term habits. I'm sure you can lose a noticeable amount of weight by the August wedding, but overdoing that to extremes would be more likely to have negative impact on appearance not just positive. A moderate, healthy approach is the way to go, IMO.

I'm cheering for you to succeed: You can!
