3 plates of popcorn? 3 plates of steak, baked potatoes and veggies? 3 plates of cookies?

If you've been eating in that general pattern for at least a few weeks, like maybe 4-6 weeks, and not gaining . . . the generic answer is to eat more.

There's a thread about some ways to do that here:

If appetite is limiting you - feeling too full, too soon - maybe experiment with different choices that are more calorie dense. Some people find things they drink less filling than foods they chew, so smoothies, shakes or juices may help. Spreading out food into more meals/snacks but smaller ones may help. Think about which individual foods are less filling for you personally, and eat more of those.

Yes, nutrition is important so try to cover the basics, but adequate calories are the basis for health, and being truly too thin has some risks. Eating some treat foods once adequate nutrition is dialed in may be part of the solution, since many people find treat-type foods less filling.

Short answer is more calories. I was always a small guy, then I started drinking Russian Bear 5000, and other weight gain shakes. Or you could eat more Oatmeal, chicken, eggs, yams. You could also try adding more good fat (drizzle olive oil on everything.)

    Peanut butter and jelly sandwich(es).

As Dan John said in his book Mass Made Simple, PB&J are:

    1: Easily transported

    2: Easy to consume

    3: Easy to make

4: It is something you will actually eat
