Using The Scanning Tool

New here - first day.
I signed up for the premium trial to be able to use the scanning tool.
I haven't figured out how to add to the food list so that the food can be accessed again. It seems like you have to scan it every time you want to log it. I don't want to have to do that.
How do I add scanned foods to my food item list?
Thanks.

I don't think it works the way you think.
When you add a food to your diary for Breakfast from using the barcode scan there isn't an option to add it to some kind of master list.
My Meals is for adding multiple foods into one item for one click deployment. My Recipes is for making up a recipe with instructions etc.
My Foods - this you think would be the place but it is actually for adding foods you don't find when barcode scanning.
What does happen when you add a food to breakfast, is the next time you want to add a food to breakfast just click Add Food Under Breakfast and it will show you your history, including that last scan you added to the meal. You can change the sort order in the list to Most Recent, Most Frequent and other options.
If it doesn't show ALL on the top of the History list then go to Settings → Search Settings → Default search Tabs and set to All.Hope that helps

In the phone/tablet app, once you scan the food into your diary one time, it's in your behind-the-scenes recent/frequent foods, as long as you continue to eat it semi-regularly.
When you click "add food" in the diary in the app, and type in a few letters of the food name, the recent/frequent foods that match appear. You can then click on the one you want, either to add it as is, or to change the portion size then add it.
How many letters to type in depends on how unique that text combination is, but it usually is only a few. As an example, if I type in "kim", I get this:
In web browser MFP, it's a little more laborious. After you click "add food" in the diary, you get a page with the recent/frequent foods listed in separate tabs. You have to find the food you want, then click the box and optionally change the quantity, then click the Add Checked button near the bottom.
These things work for either scanned or non-scanned foods in my experience . . . though I pretty much never scan foods, as it's more effort and annoyance for me than searching by typing. YMMV.
