Hi, I’m Sue. I’m not new to this program, but this is about the fourth time that I have restarted tracking my calories day by day. I’m diabetic and extremely overweight with health issues. I’m trying to track even on those days when I know I’ve gone well beyond my calorie restrictions. I have plenty of calories but I am living proof that if you’re not tracking and you just let yourself go and then sit down and write it all out your way beyond anything you can imagine. So I thought I would get involved with the community as reinforcement and accountability . Today is a new day and I start fresh every morning, but I want to become consistent first in tracking my food and then moving my body resulting in a large weight loss. I have nothing against those who choose to do it with surgical help or even medication, but I am , too much of a wimp to try those things! I’ve always been having since before the beginning of time actually. Growing up our comfort was distributed and food because there were so many of us. It was easy to throw candy or cookies or pasta or potatoes or cake or whatever was handy out in front in order to offer the comfort that we really needed , I am trying to overcome that.

Six months ago, I had an A1c of 10.4, and I weighed 196 pounds. Last week I weighed in 50 pounds less, and my A1c is 6.3, which is pre-diabetic. And I did it with just diet and walking. 1200 calories a day, and 10-20K steps a day. So it is doable to reverse your diabetes and lose weight without medication, drugs, buying a gym membership or surgery. Just watch your carbs and calories, and walk. And I'm 68, so age is no barrier either.

I hope you find inspiration in MFP, lose weight, and reverse your diabetes. It takes some determination but it can be done.
