Too many excuses!

I used to be on MFP quite alot, I was cycling 20 miles a day whilst running and got down to 140lbs, my body looked good and I felt good.
Over the past year work got mental and I couldn't cycle anymore as I was working longer days, running pettered out because I was tired from work and I started to eat my stress. I gained about 20lbs over 12 - 18 months (I stopped weighing myself so I'm not 100% sure when the weight came on)
Over the past couple of months each Monday I start again, but then I always find excuses as to why I have failed or why I am eating crap or why I am not exercising.
I was recently made redundant and so in 4 weeks time facing unemployment (But I am sure I will find something) I was using this as an excuse for a while to comfort eat and curl up on my sofa in the evenings but then I was looking in the mirror and decided enough was enough and I need some control back in my life.
I have set myself a challenge to cycle 50 miles a week over Monday - Friday and to generally be more active (park further away, walk as often as I can, take the stairs etc)
I have started a food diary again on MFP, I have already messed up this morning with a bunch of chocolate but its actually made me feel sick so I am hoping I can be good the rest of the day and really start to take this seriously!
I want to lose the 20lbs over a maximum 20 week period, I'm one for trying to change my lifestyle rather than diet so as long as my body is toning up and I am getting fitter and the lbs are dropping off Il be happy.

No matter what happens; just remember that everyone at MFP is barracking for you - you can so totally do this! Yeah; it gets hard and no one said it will be easy but you can do this, you are in control here! Remain dedicated - remain focused - remain on top!
Also, just remember: If you use excuses, you won't get results but if you want results, you won't use excuses!

I am sick of the excuses and feeling sorry for myself pining over my old body,
Like you said if I want results no more excuses!
Plus I really love exercise! for someone who avoids, it when I actually get out on my bike I instantly feel free and happy
I cant wait for 4 weeks time when I can look back and see the results starting to show0 -
Congrats for taking back control of things!
After only 2 months of being put down by depression and financial struggles within my family it has been super hard for me to become active again, so once more Congrats to you for getting out of your funk!!

That's how I was, I started this back in January and was running and training, even managed to do a 10k but work and other things got in the way, I kept feeling down about stuff and made excuses got back into my old habits of eating crap and sitting in front of the xbox. but now I have changed my mental state I am starting to focus on positives, making sure I look in the Mirror every morning and say you can change for the better. We can do it together lets change for the better.0

Thanks for all the positivity guys!
Yesterday I managed to say no to a cigarette in the evening and no to wine and instead had a sugar free fruit ice lolly and two pints of water after dinner0
