I have always been active with hiking/backpacking, snorkeling, and bicycling on an almost daily basis. Three years ago I had an accident that resulted in having to have 4 foot surgeries, with the last being Dec 26. Being immobilized for months, and depressed from no physical activity, I gained 20 pounds, ending up at 170. Looked terrible, felt as bad, clothes didn't fit, etc.

I'm retiring the end of May, and finally found the determination to get on keto and try at least MTB riding for weight loss and fitness. Down 17 pounds in 2 months!

Diet tracking with MFP has been critical in assisting my caloric goals, especially macros for the keto diet.

Staying focused on "quality of life" and fitness, not to mention wearing swim clothing and looking okay at 60…I'm finding this is the REQUIRED thought process every day!

@bgm1911 - I am 95 percent retired. I am a trial attorney and I used to carry between 10 and 100 cases at a time depending on their complexity. I stopped accepting new cases in November of 2022 and vacated my office in February 2023. I have 2 cases that I have already tried and I am waiting for decisions on - one of which if I lose I will appeal. And I have my final trial set for next month. At the moment, I am working about 20 hours per week to get ready for the trial. It is the most that I have worked in a year.

My husband and I live about 1000 miles away from our grandchildren - we spend a lot of time on the road visiting them. Last year we took our granddaughter (9 at the time) on a cross country trip - from Virginia to Oregon and all three of us had a wonderful time.

    It is important to plan.
