That's a better poll than most around here, TBH.

Still, I don't see how that list of things is mutually exclusive, or even a case where I'd say this one is more important than that one so I could rank them.

The only one on the list that I mostly don't do is the "getting support" one. I do it a little, but it's from friends and other associates, since I live alone, don't have immediate family in the area. All the others I do, to some extent.

On another thread, was it you who asked about how we pursue life balance? Maybe part of the answer is having a toolkit that's more like a Swiss army knife/multi-tool, less like a single hammer.

I really appreciate your response! It is not about ranking, and we can say that all methods are equally important or depend on one another. Ultimately, life is much more than just black and white... Of course, most people organize their days this way. However, there is always that one "way" that suits someone better and helps them stay on track with all their daily tasks. I find that planning the night before really helps me out! Note: Yes, I was discussing life balance, and I like your metaphor here.

Writing things down in a planner or app

Well, I'm a chronic procrastinator, so I'm probably not the best source of good advice 😆 I'm most productive when I have a (nearby) deadline and very concrete reasons to get something done.

For work I tend to make to do lists to keep track of (the most urgent) tasks, and sometimes block parts of my agenda to make time for larger tasks.

In my personal life, it's a bit different since there I don't have a boss or colleagues expecting results. Procrastination central...

I've been using an app called Finch to create habits and get things done: the idea is that you set goals (unique or recurring) and you get 'energy' when you complete them. And when you have enough energy, you can send your bird (your companion of sorts) on little adventures and collect items.

It hasn't eliminated my postponing tendencies but it has helped. I've set myself goals for exercise (getting to 10k steps, doing 10min of exercise) and tasks I tend to skip, postpone or forget or new habits I want to create (brushing my teeth, doing laundry, taking vitamins and medications, completing my food diary, not snacking in the morning. closing my work computer instead of putting it in sleep mode...). Sometimes for unique tasks as well like making an appointment at the dentist, replying to specific personal e-mails,...
