Hello all. I am going to attempt using this app again to see if I can determine why I am not losing inches. I live in Raleigh, NC and 60+ years young and now retired. One would think I have all the time in the world now to workout and get healthy…..

I hope by reading other posts I will stay motivated to focus on getting healthy.

Have a great day

Hello, and welcome, from a fellow 60-plus-er!

If you say more about what you've tried or are trying to lose inches, that hasn't worked and why you think that is, we might be able to help you find some things to try.

For me - and a lot of other people here TBH - getting to the right calorie level for a sensibly moderate weight loss rate has gradually shrunk the inches, too. But that might not be the whole story, especially if a person isn't very overweight. Closer to a healthy weight, regular progressive strength training and good nutrition will slowly and gradually lose inches at constant body weight, as an alternative.

Either of those scenarios requires habit changes, but often not as an extreme a regimen as some people imagine and therefore attempt up front. If sticking with a perceived-healthier new routine is part of the problem, then experimenting to find a manageable personal path is part of the solution.

For me, the key on the exercise front was finding activities I think are so fun that I'd do them even if they weren't good for me . . . but they are. On the eating front, it was finding routine eating habits that use foods I actually like eating, and that add up to reasonable calories and decent overall nutrition on average the majority of my days. Honestly, it was easier than I thought it would be, and the cumulative longer-term results surprised me, in a good way.

I hope you can find that kind of solution, too, because for me the quality of life improvement was more than worth the effort it took me to get there.

    Best wishes!
