Why isn't this working

I started off at 150 lbs and now I'm 140 lbs but I can't seem to break this barrier and get to my goal weight of 130 lbs. Any advice?

I have to say, I do find posts like this a little frustrating. Do you go to your doctor and say "it hurts, what's wrong with it?" without telling them what hurts? Do you go to a restaurant and say "I'll have food, please"?
There's lovely, helpful people here totally willing to give you all the advice and experience, but they need more information!! WHAT'S not working? What are you doing? How old are you? how many calories are you eating? How much exercise do you do? How long did it take to lose the first 10lbs? How tall are you?
It is absolutely impossible to give you advice without some context.

Without more info about you and your weight-loss journey, it's hard to give advice. Depending on the time-line, you could just need to be more patient (stalled for less than a month) or, if it's been more than a month, need to lower your calorie intake/ be more precise in measuring your food intake/ increase your activity level.

You are presumably very close to goal. The closer you are to goal, the more painstakingly slow it comes and the more you have to make sure every calorie counts.
I picked up a bit traveling for a couple of months earlier this year. Several weeks of that was helping to renovate a house in rural northern Europe that was empty, other than me, a bed, a hot plate, and a shedload of construction dust. No body scale, no food scale. Not a huge gain, but showed me how quickly eyeballing foods can add up- even doing lots of steps and busting me *kitten* helping out painting, stripping, and lugging heavy moving boxes. Followed this with ten days in Guatemala. The food there? Chef’s Kiss!!!!
I got home and wanted to drop 5. Two months in, nothing had budged-other than going up slightly (grrrrr), but I knew the system and I knew it worked in the past and would work again. It has finally started coming off again-in small quarter pound chunks, every couple of days, after two months of zero movement.
I expect to be back to goal in a week or so. But expectations are a *kitten* when losing weight. 😢
Patience is truly a virtue in the weight loss game.
make sure you reset your goals after losing that first ten. MFP does not always do it automatically, and at such a low weight that’s a fairly substantial loss, and you’ll need to recalculate to make sure you’re not eating too many calories for the new lower weight. Even 25-50 a day can be a hindrance. They add up.Overeating 350 a week can be a large part of a quarter or half pound per week goal.

Mary, you and I sound similar. I’ve been at 140-143 for several years now - my highest weight was 150. I keep trying to get to 135.
Im 5’4” and 56 years old. I was eating 1200 calories a day so I dropped to 900. I hate exercise BUT have started 30 minutes on the treadmill. Lost one pound. It’s frustrating… I get you!

I'm sorry!! This was my first post, and I wasn't entirely sure how to word it. Next time I'll be more thoughtful with the information I add. Thank you for the advice! :)

Losing weight seemed so much easier before I started this :(

She posted the deets in her next thread:
Okay, so I'm 18 years old and I'm 5'7. I currently weigh 140 lbs, but my goal is 130 lbs. I started my weight loss journey at 153 lbs. I was going strong and lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. Once I hit 140 lbs, my weight loss kind of… stopped? I don't know if I started eating more or what. Recently, a bunch of social events with good food rolled around, and I keep making excuses in my head to overeat and end up regretting it later, cause I'm not dropping pounds, and I just get down on myself. It takes a huge toll on my mental game, and then I just keep doing it over and over again. I seriously need help on how to stay mentally strong when I feel hungry and not just binge eat. If someone has been in a similar situation, please… HELP!!

Reasons why you stop losing:
You stopped being consistent.
You're close to goal weight.
You burn less when you're lighter so the exercise or physical activity you do requires less energy.
