Hi,

First time calorie counter here! My goal calorie intake per day is 1900 in my personal Fitness App. But in MyFitnessPal the kjs are 5021. Which is 1190cal.

What am I missing? Why are these different?

thanks in advance!!

Are you sure it's the same accounts? It should not be possible to have units in kJ and in kcal in different environments but the same account.

I don't recognise the second screenshot - you comparing two different apps?

There could be several reasons why the goals are different:

    • Different settings for your weight-loss rate
    • Different activity level settings - MFP only includes daily activity up front - exercise needs to be added afterwards and will increase your calorie goal
    • (Minor difference) different formulas to calculate your BMR: Mifflin-St.Jeor, Harris-Benedict...

Woops, and this being a different app as well. I thought it was mfp as I've not updated mine in ages.

In the phone/tablet app version of MFP, go to the More menu. Click Settings. Click Edit Profile. Click on the blue words similar to where I pointed that red arrow. There will be a pop-up where you can change the Energy line from kilojoules to calories.

I can't remember for sure, but my guess would be that they set the defaults when we sign up based on our location, but I may be wrong. You should be able to change it there, though. If that doesn't work, then it's time to contact MFP support.
