currently navigating menopause

Hi everyone! 👋
I'm new to the MyFitnessPal community and excited to connect with others who share similar goals! I'm currently navigating menopause and have gained about 25 pounds over this time. It's been frustrating dealing with how my body has changed, but I'm ready to take charge of my health again.
I just started getting back into working out and am looking to build sustainable habits around both fitness and nutrition. I know this journey can be challenging, especially with hormonal changes making things more complicated, so I'd love to connect with others who understand what this feels like.
My goals are to get back into shape, feel stronger and more energetic, and develop a healthier relationship with food and exercise. I'm particularly interested in connecting with anyone else dealing with perimenopause/menopause weight changes, but honestly, I'd love to support and be supported by anyone working toward better health!

Hi @NellyDH! Happy to meet you :) One tip for our changing bodies/hormones is that less is more. Stress is a huge one for us, and the right kind of exercise is crucial. Don't overdue it. Walk a LOT. For higher intensity, just 3 days per week of 20 minutes of cardio is all you need. Beyond that, add some light stretching and strength building with weights, bands, or your own body weight. I’m returning to My Fitness Pal after a few years hiatus and feel like we’re in a very similar boat! Still perimenopausal at 51 but dealing with the weight gain, lethargy and generally needing to make some changes!
