Allocated calories

Options

When the calories are allocated, do they assume you will cheat a bit, or not quite get the measurements right?

I measurements everything I eat properly, and try to eat as near to my calories allocation as possible. Some days I may be a little under, some days I'm right on the mark. If I eat out, or somewhere thag I can't measure the calories, I guesstimate, but I'm losing weight much faster than the 1lb a week I'm going for. It's not really a problem, except at my age, I fear my skin won't shrink back fast enough to keep up! 😬

I believe I have my activity level set correctly.

MFP assumes correct logging, no margin of error. BUT it also assumes you are statistically average with regards to your metabolism: they use a formula based on averages of the human population (depending on sex, age, height etc) but this means that part of the population actually is (slightly or quite a lot) above or below that calculated number.

This could be the case for you - your metabolism could be faster than average. If you're already past the first few weeks (where water weight losses skew the picture a bit) I would suggest choosing a slower rate of loss to arrive at the rate you actually want. If you've only been losing weight for a couple of weeks, you may want to wait a bit to see if the rate stabilises.
