Hi. I'm trying to change my goals to losing half a pound a week, been on one pound a week for a couple of weeks. When I enter to lose half a pond a week, it doesn't higher my calories? Ive stayed the same weight for 3 weeks. I'm calorie counting and recording everything I have. Any advice please

What is your current weight and calorie goal? Keep in mind that different weeks in our menstrual cycle can cause the scale to change, completely unrelated to fat. Most people here recommend sticking to a calorie goal for 6 weeks before deciding whether it’s effective.

MFP won't give you fewer than 1200 calories if you are female. It is difficult to get sufficient nutrition on less than that. So if your maintenance calories are low already (i.e. older and lighter weight) the program would not have given you a 500 calorie deficit when you said you wanted to lose a pound a week. I ran into the same thing when I was actively losing weight.

At 60+, MFP says I need 1400 net calories a day to maintain at 125 lbs. If I wanted to lose weight, it would tell me 1200 calories whether I ask for 1 lb. or 1/2 lb. loss each week. Fortunately, I burn higher than the average old lady and I get a lot of exercise, so I was able to lose weight and maintain that loss eating a reasonable diet. If your metabolism is more average, it could take longer to lose weight purely by cutting calories.

How much weight are you hoping to lose? What are your stats?
