hi,

I am a 48 year old female with young onset Parkinson’s disease since I was 40. I have recently lost a lot of weight due to some medication changes really need to gain back. But I have to avoid super high protein because of medication absorption and sugar and anything that is inflammatory I have been looking at the pegan diet, which I think I can do, I do not eat gluten and very minimally dairy would love some ideas. I am 90 and 5 foot four so very underweight.

my gym has a terrific program called Rock steady Boxing specifically for Parkinson’s patients. It’s supposed to be very effective at controlling symptoms. (Is that the proper word?)

The classes are included as part of our usual $35/month gym membership.

It’s a national program, and the equipment has their logo, so it’s not just a local one-off program.

They also provide nutritional via the gym dietician, blood pressure monitoring if needed, and other support.

My friend takes her dad a couple times a week and either participates with him, swims or walks the indoor track while he does it.

Check to see if anyone locally to you offers Rock Steady and associated support- especially that dietician availability.

Also, my health insuror offers free phone consults with staff dieticians. See if you’ve got access to that, or if your physician can refer you to one.
