I just got started tracking my daily food intake today. I am eating lots of food, but still have more calories to consume. Plus I exercised this morning so I earned even more!! The problem is that I'm over my daily intake of both sugar (mostly from fruit) and protein. What can I eat??
Wish I could somehow post what I've got in my food diary.

If the sugar came from fruit, ignore it. And you can always eat more protein.
If your diary is public, we can read it.0

I am always over on protein, and many of my sugars are from fruit. MFP doesn't distinguish where your sugars are from, and sets your "goal" very low. I think mine is set at 34 g. I aim for 30% protein every day, though I range from 22-30% most of the time. Higher healthy food choices like nuts, salmon, quinoa, avacodo, etc, are great ways to make up a deficit. My other question for you is what is your calorie goal and what is your overall health and fitness goal (beyond weight loss)?0
-
Protein should be viewed as a minimum. Going over is not a problem. The MFP sugar goal is based on recommendations for added sugar, not natural sugar. The diary does not distinguish between natural and added sugar, so if you eat your recommended fruit, you will be over on sugar. Most people, myself included, don't bother tracking suagr. If you don't have a medical concern with sugar, don't worry about it.0

Unless you have a medical reason to monitor your sugar intake, don't worry about it.
MFP sets the protein levels low, look at it as a minimum not a maximum.
Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: sugar or protein) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

If it's something you want to do, you can make your diary public (even temporarily) so that people can see what you're already eating and maybe give you some suggestions that aren't redundant. If not, you might find it useful if you have a different question later.
My home > Settings > Diary Settings, scroll down to the bottom. Click "Public" and then "Save Changes."0

If you are under on fat, I'd suggest peanut butter or nuts if you are not restricting protein for medical reasons. These will add healthy fat, fiber and calories to your day.0

            Anything you want???0

Avocados, nuts, dark chocolate, pizza (because I love it, you should too), hummus, coconut milk, oats, quinoa, olive oil...mmm, so many foods!
I wouldn't worry about the extra protein and the healthy fats are going to be okay within your calorie goal. Eat up! 0 0
