I am frustrated with the scale, I can't get it to budget in the downward direction…

I was in the same place. A plateau is so very frustrating! I’ve finally moved downward, by only one and a half pounds but I’m happy with that (for now). I “unstuck” myself with intermittent fasting. It took about a week. Of course if you have any chronic health issues this may not be an option for you. Read up on it and see if you want to try it. It worked for me.

I know....I hit plateaus too. Very frustrating. It does eventually break. Remember...the body fights against losing weight....it wants to maintain what it has. Hang in there!

We're assuming you've calculated your TDEE and have not over-estimated your exercise. Then you subtracted an amount, often 500 calories, from your maintenance calories. You're weighing all of your food and tracking it in the app. You only eat the calories you have allotted yourself. If all these things are true, then keep going! It will move!

It looks like you've been here on MFP for a while. If your current loss effort has been going along for a while:

    • Have you re-estimated your calorie needs for your now-lighter body?
    • Did your loss taper off gradually over period of weeks before stalling, or was it going along pretty well until a sudden stall just recently? Gradual taper-off would mean a higher likelihood you've found your current maintenance calories; sudden stall means it's more likely to be some temporary water-retention or digestive-waste issue that will resolve on its own if you stick with your routine.

    Best wishes!
