Can I link Pedometer with MyFitnessPal app

I’ve just started using the app. I recently lost 35 lbs, so I’m using the app to keep me accountable. A food diary helps a lot. I also want to track my exercise and steps each day. I show that my Apple Watch is connected to the app. I also have a pedometer app that was already installed on my iPhone when I bought it. Is there a way to link the pedometer app to the MapMyFitness app? Example: the pedometer app shows I’ve walked 6,385 steps/2.9 miles. MapMyFitness shows I’ve walked 79 steps. The pedometer app is accurate. The MapMyFitness is not. If I can’t link them, I may consider deleting the app and finding on that I can link to my watch. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

why go through all that trouble when the Apple Watch reports steps to MFP, via the Apple Health app.

You don’t need MapMy or a pedometer function to record steps, as long as you’ve set your privacy settings to share steps from Health to MFP.

    Am I misunderstanding?!

these are my steps from a day or two ago. (Disregard the “calorie adjustment. That’s -short explanation- for people who are highly active). But you should see your steps under exercise. If not, your watch isn’t properly synced.
