How do you creatively log and review walks using MyFitnessPal’s web tool walking tracker?

Options

Hey everyone, I’ve been using the MyFitnessPal website for tracking my food and water for a while now, and it’s worked really well for me. Recently, I’ve been trying to focus more on logging my walking activities through the web tool, and I’m looking for ideas on how others here manage that. I’m not using any fitness watch or app to sync data—I enter everything manually right on the website. I’m curious how others approach logging walks this way and if you’ve found clever or creative ways to make it work better.

Most of the time, I log my walks under either “walking, brisk pace” or “walking, moderate pace” depending on how the walk felt. But sometimes I take longer hikes or slower strolls, and I’m not always sure what’s best to choose when logging those. Do you try to separate out different kinds of walks or hikes to track them more accurately, or do you keep it all under one type just to keep your records consistent?

I also like to use the notes section when I log my exercise on the site. I usually write down things like where I walked (neighborhood, park, trail), how the weather was, or if I carried anything heavy like a backpack. I’ve found that this helps me remember what conditions I walked in, but sometimes I wonder if I’m adding too much detail. I’d like to know if anyone else here adds extra info in their notes, and if so, what do you include that you find useful to look back on?

When I think about the walking tracker on MyFitnessPal, I see it as a part of the site that lets me record and monitor my walking activity across days and weeks. I treat it kind of like a walking distance analysis tool online, where I can look at how far I’ve gone and how active I’ve been over time, even if I’m entering the information manually. It’s actually been a helpful way for me to stay on top of my daily movement goals, and I’ve started paying more attention to walking distance and duration because of it.

I’ve been entering my walks at the end of the day as a single combined entry if I’ve walked at different times, like in the morning and evening. But I’ve started wondering if it might make more sense to log them separately so I can get a better sense of when I’m most active. I’m interested to know what others here do. Do you prefer combining walks into one entry or splitting them up throughout the day?

Also, I’ve been exploring the reports on the website to see how my walking entries add up over time, but I’m not sure I’m getting the most out of that feature. Has anyone found smart ways to use the reporting tools for tracking walking data? Do you compare certain time periods or use the data in a particular way that helps you stay consistent with your walking goals?

I’d appreciate hearing how others use the web tool for walking tracking. If you’ve found creative ways to log your walks, use notes, or get more out of the reports, I’d really like to learn from your experience.
