    Hello and welcome!

It's great that you've decided to improve your health. Doing it as a couple should smooth the path.

Not sure when your cruise was, but I maybe have good news/bad news: Usually, when there's an interval - like a vacation - that involves different eating patterns from usual, different activity patterns than usual, and maybe also some driving/flying of distances, there is extra water retention. Getting back to routine life usually results in a quick and rather substantial weight drop as that adjusts back to normal. If you're moving into an overall healthier plan for eating/moving, that drop can potentially be even a bit faster.

The bad news is that after that initial fast drop, some people will see a pseudo-stall on the scale and think their new routine isn't working, get discouraged, and quit. Don't do that. It takes at least 4-6 weeks, or one or two menstrual cycles for those who have them, to see a reasonable average weekly result from the new routine, in one's total weight trend over that whole time. The water retention rebalancing can hide continuing fat loss for a while, but the gradual fat loss eventually stops playing peek-a-boo on the scale, and shows up in those trends over time.

Hang in there, keep doing good things, positive results will be coming, high odds. I lost around 50 pounds with MFP at age 59-60, and the quality of life improvement was more than worth the effort.

    Wishing you success!
