Exercises vs steps

If MyFitnessPal already tracks calories burned from my daily steps, and I did a 45-minute walk at 4.5 mph on my walking pad, should I still log that workout separately under exercise? Or would that be double-counting?

Do you have a fitness tracker synced? Or what else do you mean by 'if MFP tracks my steps'?
If you have a tracker synced, you don't need to (and shouldn't) log your walk.
Ifyou don't have a tracker synced, it will depend on the activity level you chose and if the walk is on top of that or not. Sedentary already includes a few thousand steps, so if you are barely moving outside of those 45 minutes on the walking pad, I wouldn't log it as exercise.
