Looking for discussion on Kidney diet

Options

I am Stage 4 and looking for easy meal prep ideas to control potassium, phosphorus and sodium levels. I am mainly a vegetarian because I was raised that way and don't have a taste for meat, but not adverse to it in small quantities.

Thanks

Can you get a referral to a registered dietician to help you with this? We're not medically trained here and would not take the risk of giving you medical advice. If you're in the US then you need to see a registered dietician as a nutritionist is not something you study for. I could call myself a nutritionist without having any knowledge on this. Things differ for different countries.

You should be under constant medical supervision with a nephrologist and hopefully a renal dietitian is part of that team, period.

Thank you for your reply. I have seen a dietician and am under the care of a Nephrologist. I was just looking for other ideas from those also going through a similar situation to add to that.

Hi. As noted speaking to your doctor is important. Check out the Rice diet this is also known as the Dash diet. The Rice diet comes from Dr. Rice at Duke University. They Rice Diet book has a lot of good information regarding heart diasease , kidney disease, diabetes. Explaining races results of patients that selected this new way of eating and how it affected their health with real numbers. They also have a Mediterranean Dash diet. I have stage 2 kidney disease and a family history of heart disease. It’s really not a diet but a way of eating. The result is weight loss as well. I like it because after the initial 2 week phase it allows/ encourages healthy carbs. Whole grains including bread. This is successful for me because it is a better way of eating. Good luck.
