Carbohydrates-Fiber=net carbs

Hi! New here. I see the app tracks my carbs and my fiber, but shouldn’t it actually track NET carbs? So say you are allowed 123 carbs per day, have 150 but you have 27 fiber, haven’t you actually had only 123??? We got Roya bread and bagels with net carbs 2 gm for bread and 6 for bagel. Carbs on bagel are like 37, but the fiber is outrageous at 31 gm. Admittedly takes a bit getting used to on digestive track and a bit less sweet- but at 30 cal a slice for bread, and 70 cal for the bagel- the only problem is the cost. Thoughts on the net carbs deal???

yeah I just found the same problem as well.
Since I ate almost in a keto diet today and found out I got 84g carbs.
After deliberately manual calculation, I found I only ate 58g carbs today. Later on, I found the discrepancy lies in the fiber…..

Premium MFP has a setting that will make it track net carbs, but it's only available as far as I know in the phone/tablet version of MFP, not the web browser version. Free MFP only tracks total carbs.
I know it may be surprising if you're someone committed to low carb or keto as the best way to manage weight or achieve health, but many people aren't concerned about net carbs per se. For sure, I'm not: I don't pay much attention at all to carbs, just try to get ample protein and adequate fats within calorie goals, let total carbs fall where they may. I do think getting enough fiber is important, so I do track that, but as long as I eat the number of veggie/fruit servings I want to get, that falls in place without micromanaging it. I eat lots of carbs, usually 225g+ most days now that I'm in year 9+ of maintaining a healthy weight post-loss.
I do have premium MFP for other reasons, but I don't have the net carbs feature setting turned on.
If you want net carbs calculated for you, you'll need to pay for premium MFP.
One thing to watch out for: If you get the net carb feature, be aware that some non-US countries' labeling regulations put net carbs on food labels rather than gross carbs, but just label them carbs. If you want net carb calculations to be accurate in premium MFP, it'll be necessary to check that you're selecting US food entries from the database by verifying the database entry against the food's nutrition label.
