Determined to succeed

It’s been raining continuously. Couldn’t go for my long run. But will definitely go for a walk even if I have to walk in the car park. Who else is determined to move?

I do laps around my living room while watching TV, scrolling on my phone,... even when it's not raining 🙂 (on top of exercise)

"Determined to move" would be a strong statement, in my case.

I have an active hobby that I find very fun, that I'd do regularly even if it weren't good for me, but it is. Hedonistic aging-hippie flake that I am, I guess I'm determined to have fun?

I know I feel better if I work out, even - sigh - less-fun workouts. If we have one rain-out, I might not do some other activity to compensate. But if there's a long sequence of days where I can't do my usual stuff, so I start getting moody, stiff, cranky, etc. . . . yeah, I'll probably do something, even if it's not all that fun.

I'm not being critical of you or your post: Kind of the opposite. I'm admitting personal character faults.

It's a good thing when people can use determination, motivation, willpower, discipline and that kind of thing to keep healthy movement in their lives. Those things aren't my strong suit, so my self-hack is to look for things that are fun, or at minimum tolerable and practical. For example, in the Winter one of my things is stationary biking while I catch up on videos from my visual journaling class. The biking isn't thrilling, but the whole package of bike + fun hobby videos is quite enjoyable.

Determination is one route, for sure. I feel like it's not the only one, maybe?

    Best wishes!
