I’m back… again. Weight loss has been slow. 1.5lbs a week. That’s ok right?! Weight loss is much slower now I’m in my 40s. I keep having to look at the graph to remind myself that I am actually loosing weight because it doesn’t feel enough.

1.5 lbs a week is an aggressive amount to lose a week. That’s the equivalent of a 5,250 calorie deficit a week or a 750 calorie deficit a day.

The speed of weight loss slows as you get closer to goal.

    Seconding what ddsb1111 said.

I'd even say 1.5 pounds a week may be too fast for best odds of optimum health and appearance outcomes, unless well over 200 pounds to start. Even if at a higher weight, it's still a good rate.

Judging from people here who've lost pretty large amounts of weight and kept it off, slow and steady wins this particular race. (I lost around 50 pounds - technically obese at my height - over 9 years ago, and have stayed at a healthy weight since. I was 59, menopausal, severely hypothyroid (medicated) at the time. I averaged around a pound a week, a little faster at first and really slow toward the end.)

Don't fall for the screaming headlines on the tabloids, the nonsense pushed by skeezy internet marketers or the weight-loss-hype blogosphere, extreme "reality" TV shows filmed under conditions no person with an average life can replicate at home, and other such idiocy.

Fast weight loss is a trap. It increases health risks, can cause things like hair and muscle loss or bone weakening (things no aging woman needs, right?).

Permanent weight loss is the big prize. That's about sustainable loss, and new, more positive permanent habits.

    Best wishes!

I agree, 1.5 lbs a week is great progress and moving in the right direction. Don’t be too hard on yourself and keep going until you reach your goal.

    oh

well that’s put things into perspective. I hadn’t realised 1.5 is a lot per week

Well guess I’ll keep doing what I’m doing 😂 thanks everyone

Look at it this way: 1.5 lbs each week translates into a 78 lb loss in 1 year! That's nothing to sneeze at!
