Changing the macros goals

Hi there - I recently added my garmin to MFP, and then was advised against it by my PT,but because of that my macros goals have now altered, but I cant seem to permanently change them to what they were prior to adding the Garmin. Anyone else have this issue and how to get around it?

Not a lot of detail in your post, so I'm speculating.
Probably it's because syncing the Garmin to MFP is adding exercise calories, and when exercise calories are added, the default MFP action is to allocate those calories to macros in proportion to a person's starting percentage split of macros.
If it's not that, I'd need more info from you. If it is that:
If you have premium MFP, you can do one of two things: Tell MFP not to add the exercise calories to your calorie goal, or tell MFP how to allocate the calories to your macro goals (within some limits). I think the settings for that are only available in the phone/tablet version of MFP, but they will apply to the web browser version after being set in the app. If you have premium, and need more instructions, say so and I'll post details. (I'm not an MFP staffer, just a user like you, happy to help when needed but don't want to go grab screen shots and such unless actually needed.)
I have premium, allocate all my exercise calories to carbs, because I literally don't care how many carbs I eat, as long as I hit protein and fats minimums. But that's just me, not saying you should do that.
Whether it's a good plan to turn off exercise calories being added or not is a whole separate question. Whether your trainer is right to tell you not to adjust is also a separate question. I have an experience-based opinion, but that's your call.
If you don't have premium and don't want to pay for it, some of your options would be:
- Un-sync your Garmin
- Just eat to your original calories and macros, ignoring the extra add
- Every day, record a custom food that minuses out the added calories and macros from the exercise. (Yes, that would be annoying, but strictly speaking it IS an option 😉).
Best wishes!
