Newbie

Hi all,

My name is Catherine and I am thrilled to find a group for those of us over 50! I want to loose 30 pounds. I didn't realize I had used this app about 10 years ago until I signed up for the Premium myfitnesspal. I was at my goal weight back then!!! It's so ironic that at each age I had issues with how I looked but looking back I would just celebrate myself at those ages. I want to be kinder to myself this go round. My biggest challenge is having a husband who struggles to keep weight on even at 60 plus years. I also have two daughters that are at home who sugar and junk food/sodas like they are going out of style. I am managing my stress better. I used to teach Middle School SpEd and on-levels English Language Arts in a rough school. I needed a break from so now I am working as an Aide in an awesome High School helping out with testing and Section 504 scheduling. My stress level is so much lower. I'm hoping to have a meal plan to keep me on the right path. This Summer I have been walking/interval training with my dogs 6 times a week early in the mornings. I have lost about 7 pounds in a little more than 2 weeks. The dogs have each lost more than 2 pounds each as well. The dogs and I are overweight :} Now with school starting tomorrow and I have to be at work by 7:15 am; I am going to have to hit the gym after work for the bulk of my workouts. The dogs will still get a short walk in the evenings.

Hi, the beginning of your story is similar to mine. I use MFP since 2013. In that time I actually didn't have problems with weight but I was obviously chasing for a perfection. Now I do have weight to loose, some 12-15kg ( about 30 pounds) would be ideal.

My worst ever weight was in January . Since then, with some ups and downs, I lost 2 kg.

I want to be more active, and I hope I'll find positive examples here in order to stay motivated ( I just discovered this threads today, after more then 10 years of using MFP 😄).

I got in a 3 mile walk with the dogs this morning. I've been doing "Japanese Walking" for about 2 weeks now. I have been able to increase my intensity and duration which is a victory for me to celebrate. The two dogs are down 3 pounds now. I feel really good and seem to have fewer cravings these last few days. Ever since menopause, I normally feel really hungry even after I have eaten a big meal and experience what almost feels like a panic attack to eat something sugary and fattening. I haven't felt like that since I've been excercising regularly and eating healthier. I used to be hypoglycemic so I wonder if that has something to do with my sugar cravings.

I planned today mostly vegetables but at my work people often bring sweets..So I couldn't resist.

    But I didn't take a lot.

Today was a bit passive day, only 4633 steps.
