New Here | Exploring Nutrition, Filipino Food & Healthful Eating

Hey everyone!

I’m new to the community and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m someone who truly loves food not just eating it, but learning about it too. I research and write about Filipino cuisine and food culture, so my days are often filled with stories of flavors, traditions, and recipes passed down through generations.

But lately, I’ve been more mindful about my own health. I’m trying to find a balance between enjoying traditional comfort food and making healthier choices. I’ve started paying attention to calories, ingredients, and portion sizes… which, honestly, isn’t easy when you love rice and adobo 😅

I’m here to learn from others, get inspired by your journeys, and hopefully share a few things too. If you’ve ever struggled to mix cultural food with fitness goals, I’d love to hear how you’re managing it.

Excited to be part of this space.

My “cultural” background is of the fried chicken, cornbread, biscuit variety, but….

have you tried mixing riced cauliflower in with your rice? It mixes well, is wildly low cal, and the adobo will certainly hide it, although it’s got a very neutral taste anyway. Would help make your servings go further.

Amazing has choppers that you pull a string and it rices cauliflower in seconds.

Why not add lentils, chopped carrots, or other things?
