Hi, sorry to hear that, it is worth dealing with for sure!

Did your Doctor have you see an education program or a diabetes dietician to help you with food goals?

Those goals can help us choose food types.

I like the food tracker to help understand how much.

When mom started eating to help her diabetes in the 1980s, they gave her a 'diabetic food exchange' plan - essemtially it had different fruits she could swap grapes for apples or for bananas. Same with different starches (grains, breads, some vegetables like peas or corn)

The food tracker shows your 'carb/macro' for the meal for these foods.

Other comparable swaps are say differtent proteins like different meats.

The other major category are fats.

When you choose your foods, the tracker sorts your foods into those kinds of macros

We started by taking moms favorite meals and foods, and looked to see how they fit with the goals the doctors gave her.

Personally, I prefer to eat food I enjoy - and refuse to eat food I despise.… So it is a bit of an experiment to try different foods and how they fit.

The choices are endless, so starting with what i was already eating showed me I was blowing past my carbs, salt and fats targets - i needed to add salads, broth veggie soups, less butter, less desserts.... and needed to add decent protein to my meals...

For mom, in the summer, we did a lot of grilled veggies. It helped with flavor.

Just a few ideas, it can be overwhelming... so another thing we did to simplify was just to figure out 1 meal or snack and how that fit the targets from the doctor.

    Hope this helps.

    hello!

I’m also type 2 as of two weeks ago I’m working hard to track foods and see what spikes me and see how food interacts with my body. I have been eating mostly protein and fiber with limited carbs and seem to be doing ok. My NP has me tracking before we set goals.

    thanks!

Fighting the diabetes fight, type2, so much conflicting information. if only there was a go / no go app. I'm not concerned with calories or weight loss. it would be great to scan bar code and get a green light or a red light.
