When to workout abs?

Ab workout question:
I am down 11lbs from 190 since I've been on here. I have put off ab workouts because I hear they can make you look bigger because you build muscle beneath fat. I'm still chunky, but can suck in and look like I don't have such a big gut. My question is when do I know the right time to workout abs? Do I need to lose a little more weight, or should I go for it?

just doing ab workouts in isolation won't really do much for you, and let's face it someone with really well-developed abdominals and lackluster everything else is going to look a bit silly

ab training is fine, but within the context of a complete program

go for it.. try to aim for different body areas on different days. Yoga is great for abs especially when beginning to workout. So is swimming.

Of course! I'm different muscle groups every other day, and cardio in between that. Thanks for the tip!

I do abs pretty much every day I go to the gym. MWF, they're worked into my strength routine, TTh I do yoga, which is pretty core-centric.
