White noise machines

Hi all! I’m thinking of purchasing a white noise machine and quitting my habit of wearing ear plugs to sleep. Does anyone use one? If so, any brand suggestions? TIA😊

Go on Spotify and search "white noise for sleep". Use your phone's speaker or a cheap bluetooth.

    You're welcome :)

Another vote for Spotify, although be warned the free version includes periodic commercials which can be extremely jarring and ruin the effect granted from the calming white noise.

I actually paid for the subscription for the Calm app and use that with my phone, it has so many different white noise options, as well as meditations, sleep stories etc, even ones specifically for when you wake up in the middle of the night and are struggling to get back to sleep.

I bought a little tiny white noise maker that’s the size of 1/3 a small can of tomato paste.

It’s got several different white noises, is rechargeable, easy to stick in a drawer or jewelry box, and it’s effective.

I pop it in my purse when we travel, too. It takes up very little room.

Hotels on our last trip were on a curvy dangerous road used by everyone from tuktuk to tractor trailers, and they politely honked for safety reasons when passing the hotel.

The next hotel had a bunch of college age missionaries, and the courtyard was a madhouse of screams and drunken laughter til about midnight.

This little gizmo was utter salvation.

I use spotify (I already had a subscription and I realized that there are tons of options… I like the ocean waves and rainy sounds the best). But before that I was using a free soundscape (also rain, I think) from Insight Timer. They have a lot of stuff that costs money but also quite a lot of stuff that is free.

I don’t have a fancy one, but I’ve used a basic white noise machine and it really helped me sleep deeper. I like it better than earplugs because it feels more natural. Mine’s just a small one from Amazon, nothing expensive.
