Missing Aunt Flow (ladies only!)

Hello ladies :) So I have not had my period since February, I've skipped it for the last 8 months. Could it be from calorie restriction? I usually eat between 1300-1500cals a day about 6/7 days a week. I usually have one day a week where I go way over but I don't restrict to the extreme. I make sure my net calories are always at least above 1200. Has anyone else had issues with this? Should I see my doctor is it not a big deal?

I have skipped the odd month if I have really been pushing myself in the gym or restricting too much, but never more than one.

I would see a doctor if I were you, it may be nothing - but better safe than sorry!

You should seek some professional, medical advice.

Eight months in a row. You should have done that a long time ago.

I doubt it's from your diet, unless you are also feeling physically ill and losing hair as well.

But yes, missing your period for so long sounds like a serious issue to me and it's probably better to get it checked out now since it's been so long. I know a lot of ladies (about 1 out of 10 women, including myself) suffer from something called PCOS which is a very common hormone-related disorder which can cause you to lose your periods, but of course there are many other reasons as well. It's best to let a doctor decide for sure :)
  • whoa this sounds like me. I had my last period in Feburary too... and I'm on similar calorie intakes to you. I was going to go to the doctors to see if they had any suggestions - but good news is missing periods are not as dire as not having one to begin with. I was having issues with this last time i went to see my doctor about a year ago and she said 'oh, that's not really a problem unless you want to get pregnant...when you do want to conceive we can look at it more closely and consider your options, but don't worry"
i was like, um....thanks for nothing lady!
Maybe just go see what your doctor has to say? You'll get them back, don't worry :) And i don't think it's because of a calorie deficit. 1300-1500 isn't too restrictive to be healthy.

I'd check with the doctor it could really be a number of things.

Look at the fat in your diet too because hormones are assembled from fat. Make sure youre getting a nice profile of fats in your diet fatty fish, marbled meat, oils, nuts, avocados, and dairy fat.

Also, check to make sure you are getting enough protein at least 20-30% of your diet.
