why has my daily calorie deficit went from 1270 to 1480 when I have been losing weight.

Usually the daily calories are decreased as you lose weight

I don't understand your post. Your deficit should be something like 500kcals, selected to cause about 1lb per week loss.

If you want to play around with the formula that MFP uses (Mifflin-St Jeor Equation) to estimate your daily needs, you can look here:

    https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html

Ignore everything else on the page! I only suggest this calculator because it's very simple and you can see exactly what it's doing. The formula isn't rocket science, but it's been amazingly accurate for me. But, everyone is a bit different and the truth is revealed by your weight trend. Expect lots of bumps and don't get discouraged. Best of luck!

@jthanmyfitness pal she’s probably referring to daily calorie goal

When did you get your earlier goal? Somewhere around late 2024/early 2025, MFP updated the calorie estimation formulas it uses to better reflect recent research. For most people, that seems to have made calorie goal go up a bit, even if body weight and requested weight loss rate didn't change. Depending on the timing of your two estimates, that could have affected you.

It's also worth checking for typos in MFP profile settings - it can be pretty easy to mis-hit a key or something.
