Introducing myself to group

Hi! My name is Marty & I’m trying to lose weight again. This time I have health issues & plus I want to be around for our 7 grandkids. I need a support group. Thought I would try this. This is going to be tough because I’m prediabetic, I recently have a fatty liver & enlarged spleen. I’m up for any help, comments or anything. Thanks! Marty

    Hi, welcome

Check out the MyFitnessPal 'challenge category' to find active daily groups of people tackling these kinds of things. Some are ongoing for the year, some start each month, some longer, and of course lots of people posting are shown in'recent discussion' list.

Here's a link to the challenge forum

Hi, a few years ago I was close to 270lbs and doctor said I had similar issues starting. I did a strict keto diet for 6 months and dropped down to 220lbs.

My sister coached me and said never starve yourself =eat when you get hungry just make it healthy keto. I didn’t do any workouts or routines it was all 99% diet change. I would walk about 1-2 miles once or twice a week.

We had a Costco membership and for snacks when hungry = all natural beef sticks, cheese sticks, lightly salted almonds. For main meals lots of cauliflower and broccoli with any meat source of your choosing. Can be pricey especially today but once your overcome any sugar cravings and don’t let other people peer pressure you into eating sugary foods or bread…you will see results pretty fast and that helps keep you on track…just my personal experience and also how i got rid of my sleep apnea.

    Hi Marty.
I’m currently fighting prediabetes too and working really hard to keep my food choices low carb, plus walk or do some squats after every meal. That’s been proven to help reduce blood sugar after consuming a meal.
Good luck with this journey! Fighting to stay around so you can see the grandkids grow up is a worthwhile goal. Mine is also so that I show them that Grandma is kickass and can get down on the floor and play or run around the yard with them. I don’t ever want to be sitting in the sidelines watching life, I want to be an active participant in my life. That type of thinking has really helped me stay the course — or better yet, get back on course, when I’ve let old habits back in or life stress and change has happened. And the more often I get back on track, the easier it is to do it.
