Is Premium worth it?

I have been using MFP for many years - the free version.

Lately the adverts are more prolific - so I looked into the Premium version which does offer useful features.

Who uses it ? Is it worth it ?

    I use it.

Is it worth it? It depends on the individual.

If the added features give you benefits you want and need enough to be worth the cost, it's worth it. If those features aren't particularly useful to you, it's not worth it.

    I don't think there's a generic answer.

I've seen some people - usually people with slow internet connections - pay for premium just to lose the ads and speed up page load. I've seen people pay for premium just to support the app, since they find it so beneficial even with just the free functions.

When it's new people asking, I usually recommend they start with free MFP, learn the basics - which are the same in both. At that point, they're in a better headspace to actually understand the descriptions of premium features and decide whether those features are valuable to them. The exception, advice-wise, would be for people who take a thing more seriously when they're paying for it.

I like it because I'm sort of a nutrition nerd, and I like the added control over macros and the added information I can dig into in terms of where I'm getting particular nutrients, and that sort of thing.

I've never used it; neither when I was given a few months randomly. For some problems, like slow page loading there are always solutions that one should use anyway. If you feel the premium features are not interesting to you then don't. If you think they are then consider whether they are worth it enough. Paying money doesn't make you lose weight faster, though it might motivate some people.

I started using the free version of MFP in 2014. I only know that because after years of not using the MFP app I logged back in and found my previous information was still there. That being said I started using the free app diligently around February of this year. I recently upgraded to the Premium version. I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of the premium version.

I love that I'm not dealing with the ads any longer. And I'm getting benefit out of the nutrition information. I never used the Community section before this month so I'm not sure if it is included in the free version but I do enjoy reading the posts. And honestly, I'm older now and can afford the price of the app. When the year is up I'll reevaluate whether I want to keep paying for it.

    Thanks for all replies.

I have been using MFP on and off for many years. But all the adverts do seem more in the way now when am trying use it especially on my phone.

I might try the Premium as I do like to dig deep into the nutrition. It would be nice to have a much smaller monthly payment though :)

Will report back if I go for it
