Hello World!

Hi,

My name is Ally. I’m 32 years old and I’m trying to get back to “fighting fit” shape.

I signed up to MyFitnessPal years ago and I’ve been on and off it at briefly since. This last month I signed up for the premium+ yearly subscription when I started my fitness journey.

For years I thought I was fit and healthy. That I could eat what I wanted, that my active job kept me in check. The weight kept piling on and I kept pretending it didn’t. Many feeble attempts at diets failed but in July 2025, I got damning reports from several doctor appointments that gave me the hard truth that I’m unfit, unwell and on the brink of becoming a diabetic with a fatty liver.

A little over a month later from July 2025 to now (August 22nd 2025) with the help of MyFitnessPal and a gym membership I never thought I’d ever need, plus the support of loved ones and a few people I met from the gym I signed up for, I’ve gone from 18 stone to 16, 3.2 stone.

It hasn’t been easy, and a recent chat with a nutritionist/pt today has made it clear to me that I’ve been misinterpreting myfitnesspal data somewhat and I need to change things up a bit…

so, I ask of you. What’s some tips and tricks to get the most out of my yearly premium+ subscription to further help me in my weight loss and fitness journey?

I pair the app with the Apple health app as well as my Suunto watch. I think that maybe my watch is conflicting and confusing myfitnesspal or vice versa.

I won’t go in much longer. Thanks for reading if you did. I look forward to speaking with you all over the next year while I train for a 100k ultra trail marathon in 2026.

all the best,

Al
