    Love Scotland! I was just wondering if you can search people by area to get info on local gyms or activities and whatnot, just starting my fitness journey.

    I don't think MFP enables people to search for strangers based on where they live. They've never asked for my consent to make my location known to other users (who, if you'll recall, don't go through any kind of vetting process), and I certainly hope they never will (they're very good about dealing with creeps sending inappropriate messages, so I think their heart is in the right place on this).

    All you can do if you want to with other users in your area -- putting the location in the subject line of a thread.

    If someone contacts you, I urge you to meet them in public places at least a few time before doing something like running or hiking with them on trails where no one else will be.

    True! Yes of course, I meant to stick to messaging anyway and the area as I said is for local info on activities etc.. also more keen on ladies friends!!

    Running in the woods with a stranger is not my aim! lol
