Need help with conversion please!

For example, I'll use my workout tonight. According to my phone app, I ran (walking on the steep hills) 3.52 miles in 48 minutes, 23 seconds with a pace of 13:45 min/mile. How do I figure my mph? I have always been bad at math. I'm using the MapMyWalk app. Is there an app available that will tell me my mph? Also, does speed equate to burning more calories? Or is distance more important? Thanks!

To convert min/mile to mph, divide 60 by the min/mile. So, your 13:45 min/mile gives you 4.36 mph (60/13.75 = 4.36).
You can easily see that the answer makes sense because 15 min/mile is easily seen to be 4 mph and you were a little faster than that. When doing math problems, using a "garbage detector" to check your answer is always a good idea.
I do have an app on my Android phone - ConvertPad - that will do the conversion for you. (For the record, I figured it out manually before I looked to see if it would do it.)0 -
