Upvoting / Best Answer Feature

  • Instead of just “liking” a post, members could upvote helpful answers or mark a “Best Answer” for questions.
  • This would make it easier for newcomers to spot the most useful replies without scrolling through pages.

The OP of a thread can mark the replies they think are good answers already.

Personally, I wouldn't like it if some rando on the internet could tell me what were "good answers" to my questions (ones I post as a question, rather than a discussion). The rabid advocates for some niche diets would use the heck out of that feature if anyone could mark an answer as good.

We - any user - can already mark any post or reply in most of the Community as "like", "inspiring", "insightful" or "hug". IMO, that's plenty good enough as a way to tell an OP which replies lots of people agree with.

In the Feature Suggestions part of the Community, we can already up-vote suggestions we agree with.

ETA: In addition to the flags above - "like", etc. - there's a "Report" option. That brings things to the attention of the MFP staff and volunteer moderators. That can be used in a variety of ways, too, but all of them are behind-the-scenes things.
