I set up the app and my goal is 9312 kJ per day

however you’re only supposed to have 8700 kJ per day
So why would my goal be set at over 9000?
how do I reset it or check it?

When you say "you're", who are you talking about?
The app calculates your intake based on your age, weight and physical activity level. 9312kj is 2225 calories, that's not completely unreasonable for an active man. 8700kj/2079 calories is the average daily intake for adults (to not lose nor gain) however average is useless unless you are average - a small, sedentary woman needs a lot more than a big, active man.

That's possibly correct. I maintain my weight around 9200 kj, and I'm female, 69 y/o, 5'5"/165cm, 131 lbs/59.5 kilos - I'm assuming you're younger, probably taller and heavier, and certainly 100% more male. It's plausible that you'd lose at that.
Standard advice here: Try it for 4-6 weeks, compare your target weekly weight change to your actual weekly weight change averaged over that whole time period, then adjust your kj goal if necessary to dial in a sensibly moderate weight loss rate based on your experience data.
