So close to becoming a WW dropout!
Hi everyone! Not new to MFP. I did this before in my 20s (around 2010-2012). However, I was young and didn't know how to properly use a calorie deficit as a tool, got obsessive and ultimately ended up with an ED - yikes!
I've learned a lot about nutrition and weight loss over the years, but let my weight creep up kind of high for me and my lifestyle. So in January of this year, I re-joined WW (I've done that a few times in the past with success). So far on WW I've lost nearly 60lbs! The last 10-15 of that has been because of an unexpected health emergency, but I am trying to keep it off. However, the scale has not been my friend in the last little while (probably because my body thinks it was being starved on the hospital's liquid only and NPO diets…) So I'm trying to strike a new balance and get it trending downward again. My next mini goal is to be under 200lbs, and I AM SO CLOSE IT HURTS! haha. And yet this is the time my body picks to plateau.
The reason for the title of this post - so close to becoming a WW dropout is this - I am finding it hard to function on 23 daily points. By the time I log everything for the day, I am over that allotment by 2-5 points but still waaaaaay under on calories (I'm talking like 600-900 calories per day). So I am on here this week, logging calories and paying a little bit of attention to macros (I've been doing this alongside WW in its app, because it now shows you these things). I thought WW would be more flexible, because you have a bunch of 0 point foods you don't have to be hyperviligent about tracking… and in some ways, it has been, but I'm tired of its cheese-villifying ways (literally they hate cheese - the points per g or slice is ridiculous!) I have tried MFP for a few days so far this week, and I seem to get more mileage (if you will) on calories than I have been on points lately…
The only thing I think I am going to miss is Connect - their built in community that's laid out a little bit like a social media feed, and the challenges that I was able to join there. Is there something like that over here on MFP?
