The road back to good health
hi ! I’m 71 recently retired and setting out on the road back to better health. After a stressful two year period I found my body achy, overweight and huffing and puffing. I’m using the fitness app to monitor my calories, count steps and drink more water. I need support to just keep going!

Hello, and welcome!
The good news is that weight loss and fitness improvement are possible at any age. I'm not some blithe 2-something typing that, but rather an MFP old-timer. I'm 69 now, 59 when I lost from class 1 obese to a healthy weight; I've been maintaining a healthy weight (in the same jeans size) for 9+ years since. If it matters - I think it doesn't 😉 - I'm also severely hypothyroid (medicated), of course menopausal, and with several of the aches and pains that become more common with increasing decades.
I think a key success factor is experimenting to find a manageable, personalized plan we can stick with . . . then sticking to it. 🙂 Misery is optional: Super restrictive eating rules and punitively intense exercise aren't required, just improved day to day routine habits.
Wishing you success: If your experience is like mine, the quality of life improvement that results is more than worth the effort it takes to accomplish it!
