I NEED to shake things UP!

I have been gaining some weight during the Summer, and I know I need to shake up my exercise.

I enjoy walking, but I have heart failure. I quickly become short of breath. I am curious what others would suggest. Perhaps one of you may suggest something I've not thought of.

I have a LOT of support both in real life, as well as on MFP. I belong to the 2025 5% Fall Community Challenge. Thanks to this team, I've lost approximately 100 lbs. I DO NOT want to regain it.

With my support set (Often something many of us lack), if you are also looking for suppor,t please check us out.

I look forward to your suggestions.

Have you tried a stationary bike?

Have you asked your doctor if there are limits to what you can do? Start there.

The bike is a good idea. I find that my HR is much lower when cycling than when running. Weights and balance/flexibility exercise like yoga or pilates might also be an option.

Hi @Dianedoessmiles1 Have you tried playing Salsa music while you prepare meals and 'dancing' in the kitchen? I know it may sound silly, but I started doing this when I prepare dinner for my family. You can 'dance' as much as you like, or as slow as you like. The object is to move those hips, enjoy the moment and burn extra calories without realizing you're exercising! You may find you make healthier meals as an added benefit! ❤️

I'd say try Easy Yoga or pilates, as well..

@Dianedoessmiles1 When I was recovering from surgery and couldn't walk, I did Chair Yoga. Here's a link to an easy beginner one. As you get comfortable with it, you can incorporate some light 1 - 2 lb. weights too. Good luck and keep posting, I'd love to see how you're making out!

I used to be over 300 pounds. I started with a motorized under desk mini bike and now at 238٫ I ride a mini bike that is powered by me. I can remember when 500 steps a day seemed like a lot. Now ٫ I get about 2500 to 7500 a day or at least every other day ٫ I have extremely mild cerebral palsy and several chronic illnesses; so finding workouts that I can do and enjoy can sometimes be hard.
