Taking control of my health (and anxiety)

Hello everyone,
My name is Colleen, I'm 24 and I've heard great things about MyFitnessPal, so I joined
I've been overweight ever since I hit my 20s and I've always had a higher body fat percentage than most people and it's now gotten to the point where my health is starting to be affected negatively. I also have anxiety and it's made it very difficult to go to the gym as I have a fear of running into someone I know while I'm out. So I'm making the choice to lose weight and to get my health back in check. I am currently at 195 lbs when ideally, I should be around 140-150.
My current goal is to lose 30 pounds and I plan on doing a restricted calorie diet that's lower in carbs and sugar (of about 1600 calories/day, more when I work out) and working out at my local gym. I may have some other issues pop up as I have a bad knee that's at risk of dislocating if I do running, jogging or other activities that may put a lot of pressure on the knee (don't worry, I've been cleared by my doctor). I will get a knee sleeve when I get a job and can afford it.
I'm open to new recipes that are easy and cheap and also some motivation and support and I can do the same for you. I wish you all the best of luck in your goals!
