Losing steps in the app!

after I finish my steps sometimes around 19:30pm, I noticed that on the next day when I recheck the steps, I lose steps on the app, for example, My goal is 6000 steps per day and I would do 6,268 steps on September 15th and in the morning when I check again, the app shows 6,058. Last night I did over 6000+ steps and this morning I am seeing 5968. Other days the same situation were September 1, 2, 3, 16, & 17.
Is there something I am not doing correctly? Or is there a flaw in the system? Please advise.
